3 cheers 4 Noah!!!
Noah Hatcher is our BIG 3~year~old, well almost! He turns 3 on November 24th but we had an early family party last night with his friend party on his actual bday. This li'l guy is so easy to please... give him a car and he is good for hours. This pack of Hot Wheels was a real thrill for him and I'm sure we've lost him to the "car world" for the next few days!
GUM~ who knew it could be so exciting!?! Parker wanted to buy him a gift with his plow earnings. He was all set to buy him one racecar until we stepped foot in the checkout aisle and he spotted this "green" gum! And, boy was it a hit! All the car gifts suddenly took second string as Noah was enamored with his own package of "BIG gum", not the little tiny white pieces that I regularly give him!Thursday, November 12, 2009
plow GUY 'n shovel BOYS
I am convinced that when it snows our household has different views on the falling snowflakes. I see beautiful specks of white... flocking our trees. While all my boys see DoLlAr SiGnS! ;)Kep has a mini plow route and the boys love going along to make extra money for new toys. Parker and Noah sit in their carseats jamming to Grits or Veggie Tales while Kep plows. Then, they hop out and start shoveling the extra piles left by garage doors and porches. I love how they get this quality time with dad and learn how to WORK for money. Each time, they get so excited to come home and put their $ in their new "fire station banks" which they made at Home Depot this Fall. They're really cool as they have a slot for "Spend", "Save" and "Share". So it will help them learn how to tithe and save before spending! We'll see what they choose to spend their shovel money on this season!
Meanwhile, Savannah and I love staying in the warmth of our home... reading girley books and getting manicures and pedicures!

1st snow
It's November 9th and it finally snowed in Alaska! I love the first snowfall and the excitement it brings to our home! We got 4 inches of fluffy snow so it was perfect for sledding. AND, I could not believe how brave our boys were~ they went down the steepest part of our hill without any prompting/begging from me! :o)
The best part about the first snowfall, is it's clean and it tastes YUMMY!Sunday, November 1, 2009
TrIcK or tReAt TrIo

Parker as Zorro! We kept checking our mailbox for this year's costumes b/c Uncle Teag special ordered Spiderman costumes for both our boys. But the mailman did not come through so on Friday we went with our back-up plan. Parker was pumped to be wearing a black cape and mask! And, we spent part of Saturday morning educating our boy on UTube about the fox of the night. I'm pretty sure this is all Parker will be wearing for the next week. That is until those Spiderman costumes arrive!
Cutest Captain Jack Sparrow ever! This little guy NEVER likes to wear costumes (unlike BIG bro!) but when we mentioned he could be a pirate... he was thrilled. And, we could not get a clear picture of Noah b/c he kept bopping around with all his excitement for the night!Wednesday, October 28, 2009
pumpkin carving 09
Love this time of year when the air gets crisp, the grass gets "crunchy", the Fall flavored coffee creamers return to the shelves and it's time to CARVE PUMPKINS! We don't really do much of the Halloween celebrations but we love the pumpkin carving. This is our 3rd year to drill holes in little pumpkins and let the boys go to town with their Mr. Potato Head pieces, works great and I don't have to worry about knives flying every which way!
Parker always chooses the fireman with his fav #... 5.
This is our 3-sided pumpkin! Spiderman in honor of Uncle Teag, only it didn't turn out as we expected. Larry Boy's side was the best effort. And, the last side is the boys' contribution using our pumpkin stamps.
And, here's our sissy who never once cared what mess was being made because she had a pumpkin "purse" to fill with Potato Head pieces!Thursday, October 15, 2009

fall FUN!
Fall leaves provide endless hours of fun in our yard. This year, they have been especially fun because we have had a forever LONG Fall. It's October and we still have 50s and 60s- unheard of... we are enjoying every minute of it before the white stuff takes its place!Wednesday, September 30, 2009
1st homeschooling group field trip
Yesterday, Parker and I met some of our homeschooling buddies for our first homeschooling field trip at a hay farm. It was so FUN! This farm had hundreds of acreage of hay fields surrounded by freshly snow-covered mountains. The homeschooling family that harvests the hay was super gracious to give us a long hay ride through the fields and woodsy trails. Here we are on the hay ride with Parker's buddies and my buddies!
Parker insisted that the "Kroons" had a "family" picture since his buddies, the Bacons, had a "family" pic!!!
After the hay ride, we wandered down to the fields where the yak and a variety of cows graze. This humongous cow is a Scottish Highlander Cow- isn't he cool-looking with his HUGE horns!?!
Parker finally got brave enough to feed this big cow some hay! I felt bad for the cow because Parker didn't want to get too close so the cow had to lick through the barbed wire!We are excited for all the future homeschool field trips that are usually FREE because the moms take turns planning them once a month!

sCiEnCe w/ dad!!!
Kep and the boys spotted this beehive a couple months ago while hiking around our backwoods. So we stayed away from the hive until we had about a week of freezing temperatures to kill off the bees. Then Kep went back to cut it down this weekend. And, now we have had our first science lesson on an animals' habitat! A couple weeks ago Parker and I read about bees making their habitat so this was exciting for him to see it first hand. I, myself, have loved these animal studies... I am constantly amazed by the creative handiwork of our God! Some bees make their nests/beehives of paper as insects are capable of making their own paper from plant materials. WOW!
SIGH... no live bees! But there were plenty of dead ones and a few larva that inched around our porch- yuck! I love science but the decaying smells are not my fav. As soon as Kep cut the hive open... a nasty smell engulfed us!
Meet "Wilson" with his comb! (Wilson i.e. "Home Improvement" neighbor!) All those little circles are bee eggs that never hatched (at least that is what we told Parker- so we hope it's true as we couldn't find more info. on the internet). We cut a few of them open and there laid a full~grown dead bee! So there ya go... our first science "experiment"!
Parker is thoroughly excited! And the reason Noah has "backed up" with this look of discust is because we could not convince him that bees were not going to fly out and sting him! Yep, the boys are in their PJS at 4pm... the beauty of homeschooling!!!
